For everything, there is a season, a time for every matter under Heaven:
. . . a time to weep... and a time to laugh."
(Ecclesiastes 3:1- 4)
"Tears cleanse the heart, but laughter makes it lighter."
Have we lost the ability to look at ourselves and life at-large and just laugh? It is easy to get caught up in the dramas of life and mechanically grind out days, months, and even years forgetting to see and experience the humor, fun, and laughter that is our birthright; our wonderful gift from God!
Laughter has the power to heal our minds, bodies, and experiences. It can transform our relationships and enhance our lives. Humor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cold, sniffle, or sneeze. Laughter is good for our souls and for our health.
Charles Fillmore wrote that "The mind can put 'kinks' in the nerves that interfere with the flow and circulation of energy through the physical body; this leads to dis-ease in mind, body, and financial affairs. Laugher straightens out the "kinks' in our mind and promotes circulation."
We can choose to seek the drama or we seek the humor in ourselves and in our lives. Humor lightens our burdens, inspires hope, connects us to others, and keeps us grounded, focused, and alert. Laughter is in keeping with God's divine order!
